Do you own or work in a store that sells tobacco products? Make sure you understand the law:
Philadelphia City Ordinances 732 and 960367 require:
- No sale of cigarettes, cigars, chew or pipe tobacco to anyone under age 18.
- Retailers must ask for a photo I.D. of anyone who appears to be under age 25.
- Retailers must post an age-of-sale warning sign near the cash register.
- Retailers may not sell single cigarettes (loosies).
- Tobacco must be kept behind the counter or in a locked case.
Tobacco Products Include:
- packs of cigarettes
- loosies (single cigarettes)
- blunts or cigars
- bidis
- imported or specialty tobacco
- chew or spit tobacco
- pipe tobacco
