| African American men are at least 50 percent more likely to develop lung cancer than white men. |

Before I moved to Philadelphia from Puerto Rico, I was a marketing specialist for an international tobacco company, having access to free cigarettes. I smoked heavily for over 32 years.
On my arrival in Philly, the first thing I saw was a big SEPTA bus with a sign on it promoting "SmokeFree Philly"! It was definitely a sign. I was starting a new life here in the States, I wanted to become a better role model for my children.
I called SmokeFree Philly and found a stop smoking session in Spanish. My Smoking Cessation Specialist, Daniela, gave us total support with free patches and group support sessions to help us. When I started, I wasn't sure if I could quit. Attending the sessions and wearing the patch for 30 days helped me. Find out what could help you, and stop smoking immediately. Your lungs, your heart and your family will appreciate it.
Now I have been smokefree for over one full year. I am so grateful to the program and to Daniela. I now feel liberated from tobacco, I am filled with health, and I smell like a woman. Today, 10,860 cigarette sticks less, I believe that one of the reasons I relocated to Philadelphia was to meet an angel called Daniela!
I can never forget my son's face of appreciation for my quitting smoking. If I did it, you can too.
I finally can affirm that I am a NON-SMOKER.
Thank you, SmokeFree Philly!
